IPL has more revenue than English Premier League

The Indian Cricket Board will have to pay Rs 105 crore to broadcast a match of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The price has gone up in the auction on Sunday, combining TV and digital rights. The e-auction is not over yet. The auction is set to resume on Monday.

In the cycle from 2006 to 2017, TV rights were sold to Sony for Rs 8,200 crore. The figure stands at Rs 620 crore every year. In the cycle from 2016 to 2022, Star India bought the broadcasting rights for Rs 18,346 crore, which stands at Rs 3,269 crore every year.

For five years from 2023 to 2026, the starting price of the auction of the Board of India was 32,690 crore rupees. There will be 84 matches in the 10-team tournament every year. In the last two years, it may have risen to 94. The companies have taken part in the auction keeping that amount in mind. Disney Star, Sony Network and Viacom 18 / Reliance have fought for the TV rights. G Entertainment Enterprise Limited, Disney + Hotstar and Reliance Jio were up for auction. In the first phase of the auction which ended on Sunday, the base price of BCCI has increased from Rs 32,790 crore to Rs 43,000 crore. As such, BCCI will get Rs 57 crore for TV rights for each match and Rs 48 crore from digital. The combined total is Rs 105 crore, which is expected to increase further on Monday.

For every match, BCCI will get Rs 56 crore from TV and Rs 48 crore from digital platform.
* IPL is now the second most expensive tournament after NFL.

This time the auction is in four packages. Television of the Indian subcontinent in A, digital in B, additional additions to important matches in C and out-of-subcontinent rights in D. Exceeding the auction figure of Rs 43,000 crore has made the IPL the second most expensive competition in the world. BCCI secretary Joy Shah told The Indian Express: "The broadcaster has to pay ৭ 18 million for each NFL match. The cost of each of the two English Premier League matches was 110 million. The cost of each match in the IPL this time will increase to more than 120 million dollars. We're just behind the NFL right now. '

Excited about this, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said, 'IPL has more revenue than the Premier League. We are proud. '
