Insults, object throwing and taunts in the NBA... "This shit is getting out of hand"

Traditionally , the public that attended NBA games used to respond to a calm profile , fans who took it as a show and went to the courts with their family or friends to have a good time, devour nachos, hamburgers or hot dogs. and, on the worst of nights, booing a rival team. Fortunately, that is still the majority typology of NBA fans. But for two years attitudes of some fans have begun to proliferate against some players that border on the illegal , uttering serious insults against them, throwing objects at them or blatantly provoking them, sometimes facing them directly from the first rows of seats.

n Game 3 of the Finals Draymond Green, center for the Warriors, had to endure one of the most hostile environments in memory against a player. Yes, the Warriors center is no angel and often infuriates opponents with his statements and his tough game . But that does not legitimize the serious insults he received: chants of Fuck you Draymond! or insults of the caliber of '"puto" or "son of a bitch" resounded in the stands of the TD Garden throughout the game against the Celtics.

Draymond Green's wife urges NBA to intervene

Green finished unhinged, with two points, four rebounds and three assists before being eliminated for six fouls . He wanted to downplay that animosity. "I accept it and I enjoy it . " But his wife, Hazel Renee , showed her indignation on the networks: "In no way should fans be allowed to sing obscenities to the players!" she wrote her on Instagram. "Aren't they human? Is there someone standing in front of you at work saying things like that to you?" And she urged the League to take action on the matter : "The NBA has a code of conduct on each case with the behavior of the fans and onhow they could be kicked out of a match or banned from entering .

It is not the first incident of this type that has occurred on the NBA courts in recent times. Interactions between fans and players are becoming more frequent and more tense. Ja Morant's (Memphis Grizzlies) father denounced racist treatment on the Utah Jazz court, Chris Paul's mother was pushed on the Dallas Mavericks court and some fans surrounded Russell Westbrook calling him 'Westbrick', conjugating his name with the word brick.

Westbrook had popcorn thrown at him as he was retiring injured

Few players among the most media are free from this type of demeaning behavior by fans. Westbrook himself , when he was a member of the Wizards , saw how a Sixers fan threw popcorn over him when he retired to the locker room injured. He had to be restrained to prevent him from going up to the stands. " This shit is getting out of hand, especially with me, " he said then. "The amount of disrespect, of fans just doing what they want... There are certain things that cross the line. In any other scenario... If a guy on the street throws popcorn on my head, you know what What's up. We have to start protecting the players in the pavilions. We'll see what the NBA does .
